LP | DL
Out 3rd November 2025
Spanish pure garage rock revivalists Lunamotos return with ¡Whooow!, an album that will satiate all those who march to the fuzz.
I said it seven years ago, but I will never stop hammering home that Spain is one of the best meccas to flock to for fantastic garage rock n roll. Douse yourself in a litre of calimocho and rip up the floor of one of the too-many-to-count top underground clubs to the sounds of storming garage rock coming out of every corner of the country and you are done for, don’t look back.
Into that fray have stepped the wonderful Lunamotos. After a self-titled album on the now sadly defunct Family Spree Recordings announced their scuzzed-up and fuzzed-out blasts to the country, they are back with ¡Whooow! When the wheel runs this fast, a spinning riot of pure 60’s garage rock, why the hell try to reinvent it when Sky Saxon will be grooving in his grave? Lunamotos are pure, to their very core. This is The Seeds, Count Five, fed through the Spanish scene that propelled the likes of Wau Y Los Arrrghs and Doctor Explosion to the fore.
Right from the off, on opener Atlanta, they layer that deep germanium fuzz sound with stabbing organs, drums that scuttle, flit and drive, while the scorched-throat vocals beckon us in. It is a swirling battering den of malcontents taking the wheel to speed us back through the decades, back from the grave all over again. The fantastic Sexy Salvaje is an early highlight, especially with its little nod to The Who’s Boris The Spider, a riotous track. Hitting more of a groove, we get songs like Mariluz and the cracking Mujer Lagarto, the latter showing that they can also blend in their love of psychedelia, bringing a dizzying swirl to the mix.
A total adoration to the sounds of yesteryear, never fearing to stay within their chosen lane and simply push the pedal to the floor, Lunamotos are a garage band for pure garageheads. Anyone nearing their orbit will no doubt be taken in by their infectious racket.
¡Whooow! is available in from Sunnyboy 66, Action Weekend, and Wild Cave Records

A Plea From Louder Than War
Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.
To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
