EF re-record and tour their debut album to celebrate it’s 20th Anniversary.
Twenty years ago, four friends from Gothenburg came together with a shared love of post-rock to record a handful of CDrs that garnered the attention of the local scene, before building up a loyal following and releasing their debut album Give Me Beauty… Or Give Me Death!
Well received at the time, EF created an album that utilised all the strengths of the post-rock genre and infused it with a Scandic charm that set them apart from the other bands active at the time. Both their fanbase and their respect among peers grew, and EF went on to record three more albums before taking a hiatus and reconvening with 2022’s wonderful We Salute You, You and You!
Now, to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their debut album, EF has decided to revisit it. Opting to bypass the usual remaster/repackage route, they’ve gone one better and re-recorded the whole thing—aiming for a sharper, more powerful sound infused with a modern EF aesthetic. They promise greater intensity, bigger orchestral swells, and expanded arrangements of some of the album’s hidden treasures.
To mark the occasion, EF are heading to the UK for a handful of shows. You can catch them performing Give Me Beauty… Or Give Me Death! at the following venues:
November 5th – Southampton, Joiners
November 6th – Bristol, Rough Trade
November 7th – London, The Dome
November 8th – Manchester, Damnation Festival
November 9th – Glasgow, Mono

The re-recorded album will be released next year on Vinyl, CD and Digital on Pelagic Records.

A Plea From Louder Than War
Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.
To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
