Marta Vega: Bye

London-based, rising alt-rock solo artist Marta Vega returns with her vibrant new single, Bye, delivering another dose of emotionally raw yet irresistibly melodic music. Released shortly after the previous single Chemtrails, the single comes with a double length video, linking the two songs as an A & B-side.
Bringing a distinctive grunge grit meets pop accessibility, Marta has quickly gained recognition for her songwriting, drawing comparisons to the likes of Avril Lavigne, Beabadoobee and Wolf Alice. Bye is a prime example of her sound bringing catchy hooks, punchy attitude and a sense of energy in abundance.
Produced by Andrea Tripodi (Bambole di Pezza, Adriano Celentano, Gianluca Grignani) and mastered by Stefan Brown at Abbey Road Studios, the track brings a polished yet edgy feel through its distorted vocals, crunchy drums and driving guitar tones with glitching production. A super short and punchy offering at 1:47, the track manages to pack a punch of memorable ideas and a visceral urgency through its straight to the point writing style.
Lyrically, Bye is a breakup anthem layered with personal grief and catharsis. Vega explains, “Bye was written in just a few hours, and it really captured the emotions I was living through in that moment – the anger, the sense of loss, but also the urge to break free. I actually wrote the lyrics when I was in the bathroom at the studio, just scribbling down what I was feeling. My grandma had just passed away, and it almost felt like a spiritual power was guiding me in the writing that day.
At the time I was listening to a lot of Lil Peep and XXXTentacion, and that definitely influenced the way I delivered the vocals — raw, direct, almost like letting the words spill out. The post-punk drums gave it this restless drive, and together Bye’ felt like unlocking something mysterious that had always been inside me.”
A sharp, visceral, and undeniably catchy track that perfectly showcases Marta Vega’s ability to blend grit with melody Bye is a firecracker. When coupled with the more fully formed and Chemtrails, Vega’s abilities as a writer shine, giving a glimpse into her radiant potential, and no doubt the massive 2026 she will have.
