Nervous Twitch are back! Freshly signed to Spinout Nuggets, they release their new single, The Day Job Gets In The Way, ahead of a new album of the same name. Louder Than War premieres the video…
For more than a decade Leeds based Nervous Twitch have been a staple of the Indie Scene, not only as a hardworking band but also supporting those around them, most notably via their annual Part Time Punks Festival. For their sixth album of all new material, the first since 2022’s Some People Never Change they have teamed with the well-respected Spinout Nuggets. (Eagle eyed fans may call out ‘…but it’s the seventh!’ – but I’m not counting the self-released superb collection, Odd Socks (B Sides, Demos and Rarities) which was released in 2024)
The trio consisting of Erin Hyde (Vocals, Bass Guitar), Jamie Churchley (Guitar, Backing Vocals) and Chris Cooper (Drum) recorded the album with Alex Greenwood (who also mixed it) at Hohm Recording in Bradford before sending it down to Ranscombe Studios, Rochester for it to be mastered by Jim Riley.
Having a quiet word with Lee Grimshaw, head honcho at Spinout Nuggets re the signing the band he explained, “I’ve been keeping an eye on Nervous Twitch for some time, not only liking their IndiePopPunk sound, but also admiring the way they convey it, and our world’s finally collided”.
The new single, also the title track of the album which will be released on 31st October which is available to preorder here. The album, The Day Job Gets In The Way showcases Nervous Twitch’s flavour of first-wave CBGBs punk meets scuzzy C-86 pop, singing tales of joy and feelings of frustration, with sharp character observations of dreaded night shifts, awkward customers and demanding bosses.
Not that the self-confessed song writing addicts appear to have ever let the 9-5 get in the way of making music or playing live. They boast a rich touring history; from hosting the Part Time Punks all-dayers in their hometown, traipsing up and down the lengths of the UK, USA and Europe. Confident headliners they have also been approached for support slots by icons such as The Darling Buds, The Rezillos, The Meteors and Shonen Knife along the way too.

30/10 The Salty Dog, Northwich

A Plea From Louder Than War
Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.
To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
